Cadet Sarah J. Zorn will be first woman to lead the South Carolina Corps of Cadets as regimental commander in the history of the college.

As part of Women’s History Month at The Citadel, the new assistant provost for leadership and department head and professor of The Citadel Department of Leadership Studies will give a presentation at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 on campus.

Four highly decorated military leaders have been named finalists in The Citadel’s search for its 20th president. The Citadel Board of Visitors released the names of the three- and four-star generals as a prelude to interviews with the candidates in late March and early April.

Citadel professor and former Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr., is teaching a new course for the spring semester called The Why and the How: The Making of the International African American Museum. Every class in the course is open to the public.

When learning how to treat patients, nursing cadets and students at The Citadel now have the ability to become proficient at inserting needles, checking vital signs, and even responding to heart attack or stroke symptoms before they begin to help treat live human patients.

The state-of-the-art Bastin Hall is being constructed facing Hagood Ave. beginning in the early spring of 2018, with an anticipated completion time of about 18 months.

The Citadel’s long-standing relationships with community partners such as the City of Charleston Recreation Department, the Charleston County School District, Habitat for Humanity and the Lowcountry Food Bank make it possible for cadets to learn the value of community service by volunteering on a regular basis.

A Citadel professor who spends much of his time teaching engineering on campus, spends the remainder of his time working with a team of researchers at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) in Adelphi, Maryland.
