The need for 2.5% increase was explained by the Vice President of Finance and Business as a means of continuing the college’s solid financial footing.

The Citadel Board of Visitors elected Col. Myron C. Harrington Jr., U.S. Marine Corps, (Ret.), ’60, as Board chair.

As Chair, I want to reassure our entire campus community that our Board of Visitors intends to continue performing our duties.

“As a Citadel graduate who served as a state senator from Charleston for 12 years and a member of the Citadel Board of Visitors for eight years, I find the whole situation extremely troubling.”

The Citadel has made great progress during the tenure of Fred Price Jr., ’75, on the board and as board chair. That progress will continue.

The Citadel’s new strategic plan, Our Mighty Citadel 2026, is now in place to serve as the guideline for the college’s evolution.

Gen. Spears served as an ex officio member on The Citadel Board of Visitors from January 1995 until January 2011 as Adjutant General of South Carolina.

“The Board is united in the decision to freeze tuition at last year’s rate for the coming academic year,” said Col. Fred L. Price Jr., BOV chair.

Both Col. Robert E. Lyon, Jr, Class of 1971, and Col. F. G. “Greg” Delleney, Jr., Class of 1974, officially join the Board of Visitors.
