Brown attended The Citadel on an Army ROTC scholarship. He was an Army captain for six years and served in Special Forces as a Green Beret.

In ’21, there are some unusual ties between the Mechanical and Civil Engineering programs: Two mechanical engineers, two civil engineers, four athletes and two musicians.
