Dr. Scott Curtis, director of the Lt. Col. James B. Near Jr. Center for Climate Studies at The Citadel, said air quality goes down as temperatures go up.

Curtis said the findings of the project should be ready around the end of September.

The two-day event was organized and directed by the U.S. Coast Guard, Sector Charleston.
