A woman will become regimental commander of cadets at The Citadel in South Carolina for the first time in the military college’s 175-year history.

Cadet Sarah J. Zorn will be first woman to lead the South Carolina Corps of Cadets as regimental commander in the history of the college.

Citadel student teams are preparing for competitions in cyber defense and ethics. On Feb. 24, The Citadel Cyber Defense Team will participate in the Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Contest.

Cadet Col. Dillon Graham received the General Douglas MacArthur Cadet of the Year Award, and Cadet Lt. Col. John Cordes was honored with the Medal of the Society of the Cincinnati Award (South Carolina chapter).

The Citadel Foreign Military Auxiliary turns a year old this spring after being chartered in the spring of 2017. Their efforts were recognized by the Royal Netherlands Armed Forces January 26, after 23 cadets passed a series of exercises that Dutch forces must complete.

The Dean’s List is a recognition given to cadets and students who are registered for 12 or more semester hours and whose grade point average is 3.20 or higher, with no grade of I (Incomplete) and no grade below C for work in a semester.

Gold Stars are awarded to cadets and students who have earned a grade point ratio of 3.7 or higher. The following are cadets and students who received the honor for their work accomplished in the fall semester of 2017.

The President’s List is one of the most distinguished cadet awards presented by The Citadel. It indicates excellence in academics and military duties. The list is a combination of the Dean’s List and the Commandant’s Distinguished List and is composed of cadets who contribute the most to their companies.

Citadel cadets and students will learn about leadership and teamwork while studying aboard Charleston’s iconic Spirit of South Carolina.
