The Tommy Baker Veterans Fellowship recipients include eight veteran students in The Citadel Graduate College, studying a variety of undergraduate programs.

“Being classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a community-engaged campus is an honor few colleges achieve. The real victory though is the many students who find their calling and go on to be lifelong engaged citizens.”

He’s one of the few people to rise from private to four-star general — and soon he’ll be at The Citadel to share some of his experiences.

A former member of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets went on to a horse racing career that included 1,328 victories and earnings of $54,657,686.

S.C. State Rep. Bobby Cox is a 2002 graduate of The Citadel, where he served as Cadet Regimental Commander in charge of all students.

The therapy uses surfing as a vehicle to teach veterans different techniques for coping with the psychological and physical scars of war.

After their service, most of these veterans continue to give back in different ways, even though they are not in active duty.

The Citadel is taking action to bring awareness to the issue of veteran suicide.

“I tried to get him out. He was trying to help us. If it hadn’t been for him and his platoon, we wouldn’t be here today.”

Approximately 500 members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets (SCCC) are being awarded diplomas on May 4, and are progressing to their next step in life whether it be a career as a military officer; a job as a working professional; attending graduate, medical or law school, or serving in internships.
