On May 6, more than 1,000 cadets and students from the Class of 2023 will graduate from The Citadel.

The Citadel School of Engineering inducted four new members into the Academy of Engineers on April 20 — Arnold Benson, ’73, Mike Fuhrman, ’91, Charlie Watson Jr., ’58, and Melvin Williams, ’00.

James Rigney, perhaps better known by his pen name Robert Jordan, will be memorialized at The Citadel with an endowed professorship and scholarship in his name.

The Southern Conference named its All-Southern Conference Faculty and Staff Team, with two representatives from The Citadel included in the recognition by the league.

AWS Education Champions program is community-led, made possible through the work of others who look at the bigger picture when it comes to improving education and accelerating research. Among those recognized at the conference were Andrew Williams, Ph.D., dean for the School of Engineering.

The Citadel is officially a KEEN Partner Campus, making it the first senior military college or academy to be given that distinction. Along with more than 50 other schools, this program will bring new collaboration, faculty development, and funding opportunities for The Citadel’s faculty, cadets and students.

“It is up to men and women graduating from this school, who truly care about it, to continue its lasting legacy and remember those who have come before us. The ring connects us in this special way as a class and with our distinguished alumni. It’s the best way to wrap the prestigious history of this institution into one meaningful object, ” said Blake Giles.
