The Class of 2029 reported to The Citadel on Saturday, Aug. 16, marking the start of their cadet journey. More than 800 cadet-recruits — known on campus as “knobs” — are settling into their companies and barracks while beginning to embrace the traditions of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.
Matriculation Day, a long-standing tradition at The Citadel, marks the beginning of the fourth-class system for the freshmen.
For the Class of 2029, the Oath Ceremony was a defining moment. Standing on Summerall Field, the cadet-recruits vowed to live by The Citadel’s core values of honor, duty and respect as they continue their path toward becoming members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.
The Class of 2029, along with the rest of Citadel cadets and students, will begin their first week of classes on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Prints of photos from this year’s events will be available for purchase through The Citadel’s photo store; they will also be available for free digital download at the same link.
