Approximately 500 members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets (SCCC) are being awarded diplomas on May 4, and are progressing to their next step in life whether it be a career as a military officer; a job as a working professional; attending graduate, medical or law school, or serving in internships.

“Maj. Gen. Carroll LeTellier is respectfully remembered by many in The Citadel community,” said Gen. Glenn M. Walters, USMC (Ret.), president of The Citadel. “He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for almost three decades, was known for his engineering designs and direction related to major projects around the nation including the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston, and served in numerous capacities as a leader on campus. He will be greatly missed.”

Paying our success forward now as mindful mentors who understand what these future professionals value most will keep our businesses relevant as this generational shift progresses.

The Feb. 9, 2019 event will once again bring up to 3,000 visitors to campus for what is now a tradition for many of the teams that compete. But as STEM teachers from K-12 schools, engineering mentors, business, community, college and military team leaders consider their strategies, some of them have a have a new puzzle to ponder.

During his tenure as dean, The Citadel School of Engineering has grown more than 200 percent and has more than doubled its offerings. New programs developed in the past five years include Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Project Management.
