As The Citadel’s first Construction Engineering majors prepare to graduate, an alumnus and senior cadet team up to guide future engineers.

David Aughtry of Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams & Aughtry discovered something about himself after graduating from The Citadel, picking up degrees in law and accounting at the University of South Carolina and earning an LLM in taxation at Emory: “I was born to try tax cases.”

The display is a gift to the community made possible through donations and the efforts of many volunteers, according to Field of Honor chair J.C. Dominick.

Eleven former cadets and students who graduated from The Citadel between 2008 – 2015, and are well on their way to becoming physicians after completing medical school in May.

Former U.S. Senator and former South Carolina Governor, E. Fritz Hollings lived his life in the service of others; the kind of servant-leader The Citadel, through its mission to educate and develop principled leaders, strives to produce.

“Maj. Gen. Carroll LeTellier is respectfully remembered by many in The Citadel community,” said Gen. Glenn M. Walters, USMC (Ret.), president of The Citadel. “He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for almost three decades, was known for his engineering designs and direction related to major projects around the nation including the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston, and served in numerous capacities as a leader on campus. He will be greatly missed.”
