Students across South Carolina are celebrating their hard work and success after taking part in the state’s first-ever KidWind Challenge on Saturday, May 12.

The Citadel’s 20th president will be Gen. Glenn M. Walters, USMC, who is currently serving as the Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps.

The Citadel Class of 2019 Summerall Guards are now in position to begin their mission. The 61 rising-senior cadets held their first performance after the rifle exchange ceremony with the 2018 guards on March 24.

After months of preparation, and two final days of rigorous physical tests and drills, freshmen cadets, grouped by company, marched from The Citadel’s Lesesne Gate to Marion Square on Saturday, March 24.

Cadet Sarah J. Zorn will be first woman to lead the South Carolina Corps of Cadets as regimental commander in the history of the college.

As part of Women’s History Month at The Citadel, the new assistant provost for leadership and department head and professor of The Citadel Department of Leadership Studies will give a presentation at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 on campus.

Four highly decorated military leaders have been named finalists in The Citadel’s search for its 20th president. The Citadel Board of Visitors released the names of the three- and four-star generals as a prelude to interviews with the candidates in late March and early April.

Citadel professor and former Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr., is teaching a new course for the spring semester called The Why and the How: The Making of the International African American Museum. Every class in the course is open to the public.

When learning how to treat patients, nursing cadets and students at The Citadel now have the ability to become proficient at inserting needles, checking vital signs, and even responding to heart attack or stroke symptoms before they begin to help treat live human patients.
