Communities across the country will honor the life and legacy of one of the nation’s greatest leaders on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this Monday, January 15. Students, faculty and staff of The Citadel will join this celebration with a series of activities Jan. 15-16.

While working as a counselor to Spanish-speaking immigrant families in the Charleston area for twelve years, Marina López was moved by the stories she heard: stories that told of struggles and despair but also revealed hopes and dreams.

The Citadel Foundation has been named a recipient of a 2017 CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) Educational Fundraising Award in overall performance, an honor given to superior fundraising programs at educational institutions across the country.

The Citadel’s Board of Visitors approved tuition and fees for the 2018-19 academic year at their meeting held on Dec. 2.

Charles L. Cansler III will become The Citadel’s vice president for finance and chief financial officer (CFO) in mid-December. Cansler has 30 years of executive leadership, accounting and consulting including serving as vice chancellor for finance and administration at the University of Arkansas Little Rock.

The Citadel announced today that senior associate athletic director Robert Acunto will serve as interim director of athletics starting in mid-December 2017.

Richard Blakeney, a respected and admired member of The Citadel Cadet Store team, is remembered with great fondness at the time of his passing which occurred Nov. 14.
