The Class of 2022 Summerall Guards performed their last precision drills as a unit before passing their rifles to the new platoon earlier this spring.

“We learned the hottest urban heat island areas, in the deep red on the map, are often the most population dense and are as much as 11.1 degrees warmer than neighboring areas on a sweltering summer day.”

Nearly 125 awards were presented when the recipients were honored as a group on Thursday, April 7 in McAlister Field House.

Established by the Board of Visitors, the award is presented to those whose service to the college or state is particularly noteworthy.

An alumnus, lauded for his dedication to The Citadel mission of developing principled leaders and for his integrity as an executive in the global textile industry, is again being honored by his alma mater.

“We are very excited to be collaborating with The Citadel to bring MUSC’s expertise in high-quality, patient-centered care to the Corps.”

The Citadel will offer two Ukrainian citizens who have been affected by the Russian invasion a scholarship covering full tuition and fees.
