U.S. Secretary of State to provide Greater Issues address to S.C. Corps of Cadets

Note: Media check-in will open at 6 a.m. Monday. The U.S. Secretary of State, Michael R. Pompeo, will address the South Carolina Corps of Cadets at The Citadel at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2019. The Veteran’s Day address will take place in McAlister Field House which is item 21 on the college’s virtual map.

The Secretary’s remarks will be live-streamed on the college’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube platforms.

The Greater Issues Series was founded in 1954 to engage cadets’ interest and knowledge in important topics of the day. Since the series was established, presidents, heads of state, scholars, diplomats, journalists and distinguished business and military leaders have come to Charleston to address the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.

Members of the press wanting to cover the Secretary’s remarks must contact Kim Keelor via email at kkeelor@citadel.edu no later than
4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10.

Media parking will be available on the left side of McAlister Field House on Jenkins Ave. Outlets needing space for large vehicles should request space in advance by emailing kkeelor@citadel.edu.

Live shots by broadcast outlets are permitted in front of McAlister Field House on the day of the event from 4:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. After that time, live shots are only permitted on Lee Ave., just to the side of the Daniel Library near Lesesne Gate, item number 1 on the virtual map.
