On Feb. 18, freshmen, called knobs, took part in a Leadership Training Exercise, or LTE, that was sponsored by the Class of 1971.

The Citadel recently hosted two second lieutenants in the French Army who came for a four-week visit through an exchange program sponsored by The Citadel Center for International and Special Programs.

Rashid Ellis found himself matriculating in August 2000. The Citadel was challenging, but Ellis found allies in his F-Troop roommate and Commandant’s Office staff members. He also embraced the Cadet Honor Code: “A cadet does not lie, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate those who do.”

Two Citadel cadets were honored on Feb. 17 with the General Douglas MacArthur Cadet of the Year Award and the distinguished Society of the Cincinnati Medal.

The Citadel’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences will host a hybrid panel titled “The War in Ukraine: Lessons Learned and the Future Political Settlement” on February 24 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Honor — the first core value of The Citadel — was the topic discussed among the different senior military colleges and service academies during the first ever Citadel Honor Conference.

Eddie Colter, ’90, did not plan to go to college. “I had already gone to a recruiter, and I signed up for Security Police in the Air Force.” But after an “adult conversation” with his mother, Colter agreed to apply to one college, which happened to be The Citadel.

The Zucker Family School of Education was awarded a grant by the South Carolina Department of Education for the South Carolina Grow Your Own (SC GYO) program.

The Citadel community is welcoming Jennifer Santoro, the Career Center’s new director.

The Citadel held a parade honoring the legacy of Charles Foster, ’70, and the 50th anniversary of the African American graduates of the Class of 1973.
