There were no injuries and everyone is safe following a small fire on campus at approximately 6:15 p.m. this evening, Aug. 23.
A cooling unit in an IT room on the third floor of Padgett Thomas Barrack caught fire.
The emergency systems performed as they should, with the alarm sounding with cadets, wearing their face masks, immediately evacuating to Summerall Field. The sprinkler system in the IT room worked and the fire was contained to that room.
General services such as water and electricity for the approximately 600 cadets living in that barrack are restored. The cause of the fire is being looked into and damage is thought to be minimal.
