The Citadel’s Army ROTC department will host a Branch Orientation Day on Thursday, Feb. 1, beginning at 9 a.m. inside Mark Clark Hall. There will be multiple Army branch representatives present to provide information on specific career fields and answer questions. This event is open to anyone interested in learning about the many career opportunities the Army has to offer.
Parade honoring African American graduates from the Class of 1974, 2003 and 2004 and African American employees

During the first Friday of Black History Month, the South Carolina Corps of Cadets’ dress parade will recognize African American graduates from the Class of 1974, and African American female graduates from the Classes of 2003 and 2004. The Citadel will also recognize the service of longtime African American employees as the college kicks off its annual Black History Month celebration.
Parade begins at 3:45 p.m. on Summerall Field.

On Saturday, Feb. 3, The Citadel African American Society will host the annual Black History Month Bazaar. The event, open to visitors from across the Lowcountry, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature music, exhibits and food. Music will be performed by the M-Pact band, and there will be an exhibit by the Tut-Tut Kemetic Group. Local food trucks and vendors will be on site, and there will be arts and crafts for children available at the event.

The Citadel will host a multi-major career fair on Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Deas Hall. This event will have 50-60 companies from a different range of departments and majors. The career fair is free and open to the media.
Storm The Citadel 2024

One of the largest STEM events in the Lowcountry will take place at The Citadel on Saturday, Feb. 10. Storm The Citadel will involve teams of K-12 students traveling to campus to compete in various science, math and engineering challenges include launching hand-made trebuchets (medieval-style catapults), firing water bottle rockets, testing miniature bridges and competing with Lego robots.
Through Storm The Citadel, the college’s STEM Center of Excellence – along with the School of Engineering, the Zucker Family School of Education and the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics – promote STEM education and allows students to use the skills they learn in the classroom in tangible, exciting ways.
The event draws hundreds of students, teachers, coaches, parents and spectators each year.

This event is free and open to the public. Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization at The Citadel for financial information students and professionals.

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, Joseph McGill, founder of the Slave Dwelling Project, and his co-author Herb Frazier will discuss their book, “Sleeping with the Ancestors” and the Slave Dwelling Project. This event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel Library, and it will be free and open to the public.
2024 MATHCOUNTS competition for Lowcountry middle school students

After a successful 2023 competition, MATHCOUNTS Competition for Lowcountry Middle School Students will be returning to The Citadel campus on Friday, Feb. 16, inside the Buyer Auditorium, located inside Mark Clark Hall, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
MATHCOUNTS is a non-profit organization that provides engaging math programs to U.S. middle school students of all ability levels to build confidence and improve attitudes about math and problem-solving.

Women’s Leadership Workshop: Leading with Humor, Power and Impact — Four Languages of Leadership

The Executive Leadership Academy at The Citadel is holding a one-day workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be LB Adams, CEO of Practical Dramatics and a TEDx and Disrupt HR speaker. In this workshop, Adams will share the four languages of leadership and attendees will learn how to have better, more profitable conversations.
The registration cost is $300, which includes breakfast, lunch and workshop materials. All interested in attending must register for the event at this link.

The Citadel will host an evening with Ann Caldwell on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. inside Capers Hall auditorium. Caldwell is a singer, songwriter and storyteller who brings the spirit of her ancestors who used music as a way to communicate with each other. She, along with the Magnolia Singers, continues to pay homage to their ancestors with a presentation entitled “A Lesson in Spirituals.” Caldwell was inducted into the 2018 Lowcountry Music Hall of Fame.
