According to Victory, Inc. — which owns the Military Friendly rankings — 1,500 organizations compete annually for the designations.

“The Citadel is proud to serve the military community in the classroom, as an employer of choice and in the overall development of principled leaders,” said The Citadel President Gen. Glenn M. Walters, USMC (Ret.), ’79.

As one of America’s six Senior Military Colleges, The Citadel’s military structure and campus culture provide familiarity for veterans. The college’s mission to educate and develop principled leaders is something veterans embrace and play a major role in achieving. The Citadel also provides ample resources for veterans as well as active duty military members.

Over the last several years, The Citadel also earned designations as a Certified Palmetto Military Employer and an Employer in Support of the Guard and National Reserve. In addition, The Citadel is the #1 Best College for Veterans, Regional Universities (South) according to U.S. News & World Report, when it comes to veterans studying at the college.

“We are honored to be recognized as a Top 10 Military Friendly Employer,” said Leah Schonfeld, assistant vice president for The Citadel Office of Human Resources. “Our campus environment is ideal for veterans who want to get in the classroom to continue their education or contribute their skills to developing principled leaders as a member of our faculty or staff.”

Schonfeld added that The Citadel actively recruits and engages all military members, veterans, and their families and encourages them to consider career opportunities with the college with openings listed at this link.

“Companies earning the Military Friendly Employers designation create and elevate the standard for military programs across the globe, they have invested in substantive programs to recruit, retain and advance the veterans and service members within their organizations,” said Kayla Lopez, Director of Military Partnerships, Military Friendly. “To them, hiring veterans and servicemembers is more than just the right thing to do, it makes good business sense.”

The Citadel will be showcased along with other 2022 Military Friendly Employers in the December 2021 issue of G.I. Jobs® magazine.
