The Citadel moves decision deadline to June 1 for prospective cadets and students

Due to recent changes and delays with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, The Citadel will move its decision deadline to June 1 for the Class of 2028.

Deposits, which are usually due on May 1 – the National Decision Day deadline each year – will be due on June 1 this year. This month-long extension is meant to ensure prospective cadets and students have a full understanding of the financial aid options available to them.

“The admissions process can be complicated even in a normal year,” said Chad Faber, director of admissions at The Citadel. “Keeping our original deadline would make the process unnecessarily difficult for families who need to receive, process and consider all offers before making the final decision on what college to attend. We will also absolutely work with families on a case-by-case basis beyond June 1 to ensure everyone has the correct information necessary to make this important decision.”

Recently, the U.S. Department of Education announced released plans to expedite this year’s FAFSA process. If there are any additional delays or modifications to the FAFSA timeline, The Citadel’s Office of Admissions will reevaluate and communicate any resulting modifications.

Students interested in attending The Citadel in fall 2024 should complete the FAFSA form at this link. Please use The Citadel’s federal school code, which is 003423.

Any parents or students who would like to know more about their financial aid options at The Citadel can contact the Office of Financial Aid directly at financial_aid@citadel.edu.
