Dear campus community,
The Citadel’s leadership team is monitoring the development of Tropical Cyclone Isaias in concert with Charleston County and South Carolina state emergency response officials.
Isaias strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane late Thursday after crossing the Dominican Republic, and — with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph — was hitting the southernmost Bahamas islands with rain and wind this morning.
Current storm tracking has Isaias approaching the South Carolina coast late Sunday, with coastal impacts continuing through Monday and possibly Tuesday morning. At the present time it appears that the storm will bring a significant wind/rain event, but there are no directed changes to campus operations, except for our continued monitoring and coordination with local emergency response officials.
We will keep the campus community informed as we continue monitoring the tropical cyclone’s development and development.
